Congratulations everyone who simultaneously tried to watch the new who on the iplayer at the same time, you have just made the iplayer go wurnk and fall over. *slow clap*

SUCCESS! ! ! ! ! ! !

Oh no it's that annoying ginger kid from harry potter! And he's going to die! Excellent!

Still not liking the theme.

And before you ask, her hair is being moved by those "currents of space" Asimov warned us about.

Don't do that baffled-by-awesome look. just... don't.

Okay that was a neat switch, picture in picture and so he steps off screen and into the screen and we step sideways with amie, back and into the screen; into the story.

you know how the last episode you could see what was coming a mile off? No idea about the glasses on the floor business.

"oh."

Will it be spinny blades of death, fire, claws, or teeth again?

SPIKEY DEATH!

Ah... wonky reflections? OOOOOHHHH, jurassic park!

Moffat and his doctors are all about the third choice though... or not. Or yes...yot? whatever the Antithesis of not is.

Lancashire is a dirty filthy tongue.

That's the correct way to adjust your bowtie prior to be vomited out of something btw.

The current queen kills small animals with her bare hands for pleasure. Just saying.

It's the demon head master! /brit

Oh ffs, a bloody failwhale.

Even when he's pissed off he's not quite emo, points for that man!

Ah, doctor comes up with a third choice... but its a crappy third choice so...

THE WHALE IS JACK! No? he's probably fathered (and probably mothered) most of humanity by this point, he'd have a vested interest in carrying them all on his back, and the whale's plan seemed to largely involve being brutally tortured for ages, so it certainly has the usual success rate for a Jackplan.

companion has to pick the fourth choice... which isn't the immediately obvious result of that action - no brief "do you know for certain that this button does what you say it does? Could you check what it does with a gizmo or something?" bit, just "well the failwhale is rather polite, so therefore *fump* it turns off the torture device, obviously, BECAUSE WHY WOULD ANYONE BUILD A FUCKING SELF-DESTRUCT BUTTON LIKE THAT!? WHY!?"

"Well sorry I had narcolepsy a few centuries back during the choice making process innit? And kinda erased the original message before I actually heard it explain what the abdicate button does. I assumed it did something bad, otherwise why would I set up a huge omninous hobbsonian choice like that for myself innit? Christ, queen of england? More like DRAMA QUEEN of England."

Thar she blows! The Arc-crack! we shall undoubtably bask in something deeply contrived involving you during the finale.

Interesting fact about this episode: number of non-white characters who died = 0 (though number of characters who died at all = 0) and JACK WAS A GIANT ONE-EYED, ONE-HORNED, PURPLE PEOPLE EATER! So all his dreams came true in the end. I mean, the end before he became just a head in a jar who died being cryptic at the Doctor instead of having the doctor be cryptic at him.

Hmm, not brillig, might be brilliger on the rewatch, Amie makes some weird assumptions about the doctor that, while spot on, aren't quite justified by the amount of time they've known each other. Doctor is still grumpy and judgemental deep down, but did you see that wobbly look on his face when she looked like she wanted to leave him? Emotionally Vulnerable Doctor IS Emotionally Vulnerable, aww.

Though I must say, the bit where he killed that prostitute and then said "somedays you get to kill a whore" was a bit OOC imho.
