Why Britain is Broken

fridgepunkPunch and Judy shows, for those who were not exposed to the horror as small kids, is basically a puppet show, with horrifying puppets with hideously malformed facial features, and the puppeteers put on this weird nasal voice for the voices that sounds like a rapist talking through a kazoo.
And the main "comic" element of the whole thing revolves around Punch beating his wife, judy, to death with a stick for talking back to him. And there's something about a policeman, an alligator and some sausages, but I forget what exactly.
And I just want to emphasise that it has, as a kid's show, no real redeeming features at all. you just have somebody doing this stupid kazooy voice, somebody who is only not on a sex offender's list due to what I can only imagine is an elaborate series of legal technicalities. And they waggle their puppets about for a while and then the male puppet beats the shit out of the female puppet for talking back to the male puppet.
