The sad thing is that there was an actual joke in the original (before the discworld reference last minute edit-save attempt), however the joke was "hahaha, anthropologists used to use any perceived failure to grasp seemingly obvious mathematical concepts as proof that those cultures were inherently inferior to the west's, and here I am doing the same thing to rank more mathy academic fields as inferior to more mathy subjects, thereby carrying over the initial logical fallacy and making this 'joke' into a hideous ouroboros that eats its own self-referencing tail."

Except of course Randall didn't REALISE that he'd made that joke, because he'd gotten to the bit where he was mocking "primitive" peoples (whoever they are - and no Randall, vagueness != meta, and Somerset has had sesame street for years iirc, so we can safely say that it's not those sorts of primitive peoples) and decided that that was a joke/funny/a funny joke [delete according to just how stupid Randall was feeling when he wrote the comic] in and of itself. Which is just pathetic.

With the Avatar movie (which may turn out to be the worst movie of the DECADE), and this, is July now the official "incompetent douchebag history month" or something? wth?
